The last 5 years of going out to try restaurants has been an eye opening experience.  I’ve had a chance to try so many things I wouldn’t normally eat.  Over that time, there was one type of cuisine I haven’t had the chance to do and that was Mexican.  Well, with a visit to El Sabor de Mexico, we can check another type of cuisine off that long list.

Over the last few years, when it came to burgers, I visited a lot of places that didn’t quite specialize in that.  Some people might think that you only go to burger places for burgers and the same for pizza.  With that being said, I decided to go back to a place that housed one of my previous burgers to take on what’s in their name.  That place is a Verdun staple known as Woodland Pizza.

Verdun has become one of the places to be when it comes to eating.  The stretch in question is Wellington and there are restaurants there up the wazoo.  If you want to make an impact and get noticed in this city, you go to where the action is.  For this still young pub known as Balconville, Verdun is the place to be.

Most of us have fond memories of our neighborhoods.  These are the places where we grew up and became the people we are today.  Our neighborhoods had everything we needed and that satisfied us.  But, there are some neighborhood places that are a little bit better than what we had and one of those is Piquillo.

Time and time again, the best types of places to visit for nearly any kind of quick fix are your local neighborhood haunts.  These tiny places are full of history and personality, which makes things all the more interesting.  The borough of Verdun has one of those places tucked in an out of the way part.  That place is known as Pierrette Patates.

After welcoming a brand new school year and settling into the daily grind, it was finally time to unwind.  What better way to do just that by having a new burger for the first time in nearly 3 weeks?  Also, I couldn’t think of anything better than having the third ever Mr. Lew’s Burger Night.  JoBlo has been a place that was high on my list of places to try and I was more than eager to see what the fuss was all about.

This type of restaurant is one of those that has everything on the menu. The vast menu had all kinds of things, but the burger selection was very narrow. The service was a little slow for my taste, but they did take care of their customers.

All-Dressed Burger

This burger contains tomatoes, coleslaw, and mustard. This is not the first time I’ve had a burger like this. The taste did not surprise me, as it was consistent with what I’ve had before. No complaints, but nothing to write home about.

All-Dressed Cheeseburger

This burger contains tomatoes, coleslaw, mustard, and cheese. The difference between the all-dressed burger and the cheeseburger is obvious. My complaint when I get such burgers usually is the mustard. Usually I like mustard, but I don’t think it has it’s place on burgers. That’s just me. There was nothing wrong with the taste. The size was appropriate for everything I decided to order. But, nothing really special.

Poutine

I know what you’re thinking. This is poutine? Yes, it is. It may look like a lasagna, but this is indeed a poutine. The massive amount of cheese was pleasant. The consistency made this quite unique. I actually enjoyed eating this.
