In 1912, the world was reeling from one of the most documented accidents ever.  That year may have been quite tragic, but there was at least one bright spot in this very city that we can be proud of.  For over 100 years, Montreal Pool Room has been serving the right kind of food to generations of hungry citizens.

Whenever I look for a new place for this search, I try to find things that set it apart.  Montréal has so many places that have unique quirks which attract people from far and wide.  When I think of my own childhood and the fizzy drink known as spruce beer, I only have fond memories.  What makes things ever better is the fact that there’s a place in this city that makes their own and they’re quite proud of it.  That place is Paul Patates.

Here we are at the end of 2013 already.  It’s probably been said literally thousands of times by now, but where does the time go?  It’s about that time where we reflect on the year that’s been and what’s to come when the calendar changes.  2013 has been a great year for the search.  When I take a look at it, I’ve expanded the boundaries with visits to 2 major cities and a return visit to Canada’s capital.  There’s listing everything I have planned for 2014, since plans may change.  But, if it was anything like 2013, it will be another one to remember.

To this day, I’ve consumed 215 burgers and visited a few cities in the search for great burgers.  But, when it comes to my stomping grounds of the Greater Montreal Area, there are so many stones that haven’t been turned.  One my biggest wishes was to find burgers on the eastern part of the island.  Well, I found a place that is one of the further east on the island in Teddy’s Deli & Bar.

Eat me.  There are those foods that just shout out those two iconic words when you see them.  In Montreal, there are a whole bunch of dishes that just scream the two magical words.  A few months back, a hamburger and poutine bar opened up on Mont-Royal, just wanting everyone to Mange-Moi.

Recently, I had the time to really think about all the burgers I had the chance to try in the last 4 years.  It turns out that I tried 199 burgers in the Greater Montreal Area.  Since I was headed to do my 200th burger in my territory, I wasn’t about to make that just any place.  The place needed to be one that has been making waves in the world of burgers and that place is called Burger Royal.

When one thinks of the Village, one can’t ignore how many restaurants are popping up on a small stretch of Sainte-Catherine.  Some of those places belong to some well known brand names, while others aren’t so much in the public eye.  Even if it’s a place that isn’t mentioned every day, it’s one that you can’t miss because it stands out.  That place is called Club Sandwich.

We all have that guilty pleasure or that thing that just hits the spot.  Those things aren’t necessarily the finest things in life or the latest craze.  Regardless of what time of the day it is, you know that you can rely on places like this to take care of you when you need them.  In Saint-Henri, that one place that people will rely on is called A.A.

There are two things that the city of Montreal is known for, poutine and smoked meat.  A search for these two elements on their own can be a very arduous quest.  But, there are the brave souls who boldly combine the two and make them steps above what they were before.  For the last post from Bouffons Montreal, there was one vendor that had the guts to make this move, La Belle Bouffe du Festival.

Progress has been made in the ever growing Montreal food tuck world.  Starting this year, food trucks were allowed to operate in specified designated locations across the downtown area of the city.  With that, just about 27 trucks have popped up and are starting to carve their niche into the hearts of many.  One of those many trucks is the one operated by Au Pied de Cochon.

Laurier is one of those streets in Montreal where the competition for decent restaurants is fierce.  Over the years, top chefs have tried their hand at putting their brand on the street without much success.  For just over two years now, another place called Greasy Spoon has been doing their best to set themselves apart on a crowded street.

When you think of a pub, there’s always that one synonymous item you get when you go there, a burger.  In Montreal, you’ll find that there are many pubs that you’ll have to sift through before settling on just one.  But, when you hear buzz about a burger, it makes things so much easier.  On this occasion, Fiddler’s Green Irish Pub was the location for yet another burger.

A reputation is something that is very important.  I can only imagine what kind of reputation I have.  Through life, we strive to create and foster the best kind of reputation.  Based on that, decisions in all aspects of life are made.  From time to time, there are those who don’t follow the natural course and go towards a different direction.  Then there are those that boldly call themselves La Mauvaise Reputation.

In 2009, I embarked on a course that would take me to places that I never thought I would ever see.  Now, over 180 burgers later, there was that one place that I just had to return to.  Before any one of us can move forward, we always have to give our dues to the past.  Without the past, the future doesn’t have a chance.  While the Burger Search officially started with an iconic place, the real path began at Frite Alors!

The Pointe-Saint-Charles district of Montreal is becoming an increasingly popular area when it comes to finding places to eat.  These neighborhoods are becoming the places to go to when it comes to finding those places.  One of the places that’s attracting crowds is a place called Le Diable à Quatre, which touts itself as a modern tavern.
