A few months ago, a trip idea was presented to me and it was one that I couldn’t really pass up on. Over the coming 5 weeks, you’ll be seeing the fruit of that labour. From April 5th all the way to the 8th, I had the wonderful chance to spend time in the states of New Jersey and New York. Over that time, I had the chance to see a whole lot and I managed to consume 5 different burgers.

For my fourth and most recent visit to Ottawa, I had to cap it off with a dessert stop. During my visit for Burger 103 at Zak’s Diner, I went around and scouted some to the places around Byward Market. I came across the famous Beavertails franchise location. I was very tempted by what I say on that day. My mind, being what it is, instead, went for the Triple Chocolate Blizzard at the nearby Dairy Queen. We all know how that turned out. I left Ottawa in July of 2011 in a pretty good mess. I was determined to not have that again by going to the place I should’ve went to.

My Burger Search quest has once again taken me to the Nation’s capital. If you do your research, you’ll find 3 specific places that you must visit for a good burger. The first place was Burger 50 and now, at Burger 113, we are at the second must-try location. My research took me to the restaurant’s website, where a rather simple menu can be found.

I first visited this location a year ago during my first trip to Ottawa. When I approached the place, I noticed the long line. For the three people working there, I felt that they weren’t being used to their full capacity. You had one person working hard, while the other two wasted a lot of time trying to figure out things. When you’re rushed, it leads to catastrophe and shoddy product.

This is my second visit to a Ottawa burger location. Research showed me that this was supposedly one of the better burger places in the whole city of Ottawa. Only one person could really be the judge and that is me.

Voted the best burger in Ottawa for the last 7 years, The Works caught my attention months ago. Boasting 68 different combinations of burger selections, this had to be the place I tried for burger #50. I was very satisfied with the level of service, as the server was very courteous.

Blues Burger
This burger contains lettuce, blue cheese, and bacon. With so many combinations to choose from, I managed to have 3 picks in mind. I decided to take a leap of faith and go with blue cheese. This wasn’t the first time I’ve tackled blue cheese, and I think I’m done with it. Despite that, this burger is still good. The ordering process is a little different, as you have to pick a type of meat and type of bun. You can pick from a list of side dish upgrades that even includes Kraft Dinner. Overall, this burger was satisfactory and I’ll be back to try the others that peaked my interest.
