My research into Chez Victor started at least a year ago when I was looking into coming to Quebec City. Whenever I looked for the best burger in that city, I found only one name above the rest, Chez Victor. To add to my delight, I was extremely lucky to find a location so close to the train station.

The service at this restaurant is above average, with a few exceptions. I was served by two individuals, a floor manager and a server. The floor manager was extremely polite and knew what they were doing. They had a good idea of where to put people. That person actually cared for the customers. The server, on the other hand, spent more time counting bills and serving drinks, then tending to a customer. Despite that, I was very happy with the way I was handled.

My expectations were met on one level, seeing the steady stream of individuals and groups coming in to partake in burgers. The place was packed and reservations were a plenty. There are many other locations of this particular restaurant in Quebec City, so the whole region is covered.

Le Raffiné

This burger contains onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, Dijon mustard, sauteed mushrooms, cream cheese, and bacon.

This burger has a lot of what I like to have in my selection. As a matter of fact, it shares a lot of the same ingredients as the first burger I’ve ever had. I learned from my mistake in Ottawa, so I made sure to do my research and choose well before hand. The first thing I noticed was the size of the burger. It was a little smaller than I expected. Honestly, it was the only let down. The meat tasted very well. The cream cheese, even though it got everywhere, went well with the bacon and beef. The mushrooms fell out, but that wasn’t a concern at all. After using an abundance of napkins, I was satisfied. Along with the poutine, this makes a decent combination to have.

The poutine is a 3 dollar upgrade on the lunchtime menu. I was more than pleased to choose this with my burger. I was a little concerned when I saw the poutine was actually bigger than the burger. The sauce was nothing out of the ordinary. The cheese curds were a little cold at first, but warmed up as the process went on. The overall poutine tasted good and complemented the burger well.
