All you can eat.  Those four words are very powerful when you start to think about it.  There was a time in society where a credo like that would fuel the motivation for someone to eat all that the slowly failing heart could desire.  These days, when the world’s economy hurting and the waistlines of society expanding, one can only reflect on what those words truly mean.  Either way you want to look at it, I had a chance to find out for myself at Sushi Palace.

Recently, I had the time to really think about all the burgers I had the chance to try in the last 4 years.  It turns out that I tried 199 burgers in the Greater Montreal Area.  Since I was headed to do my 200th burger in my territory, I wasn’t about to make that just any place.  The place needed to be one that has been making waves in the world of burgers and that place is called Burger Royal.

About 3 years ago, I made a very stupid decision.  I wasn’t the only one.  In 2010, well over 10 million people made the very same, foolish choice that I made.  In Canada, for very short amounts of time, something out of the ordinary is offered at KFC locations for the taking.  In the past, that item was simple, if you can even call it that.  This time around, in 2013, the simple Machiavellian instrument of pain and torment mutated to become what is known today as the Zinger Double Down.

Over the last few weeks, the hot topic of conversation over the realm of social media has been about BBQ.  While I’m no real expert on the subject, I always keep my eyes and ears open about where I could find worthy BBQ to try.  Now, I didn’t go to the place where everyone is talking about, but I did find a place that had some of its own buzz over the last few months on its own.  For the last 6 months, Diablos BBQ has been taking on its fair share on St-Denis, a great street for food.

Over the course of Summer 2012, I’ve been visiting a series of places that have been on a shortlist.  While they haven’t been the kind of places you would necessarily hear great buzz from, they were close to what I was personally interested in.  That all changes with the second to last name on that list, Grumman’78.  It’s been well over a year that I’ve been dying to try what they have to offer.  While I didn’t visit the truck, I took myself to the counter, which ensures that you get your taco fix all year long.

I was passing by this location on one of my random bus excursions when I noticed a sign for the return of the Double Down. At that moment, I remember the neglected pictures I never posted of my encounter with this beast.

Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Lew has a long history with Kentucky Fried Chicken. Even since I was young, KFC was the pinnacle of Fast Food. But, as I grew into the Mr. Lew you “see” today, tastes change. As chicken pieces get smaller and smaller, Mr. Lew gets turned off. The taste changes and Mr. Lew leaves. Now, KFC has joined my list of former loves like Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonalds’, and Pepsi. It doesn’t help that the logo reminds me of someone.

Double Down

Tried: October 23, 2010

This concoction contains two chicken breasts, pepperjack cheese, secret sauce, and bacon.

To start, I’m going to be honest about what I was expecting before I ate this: death. The hype surrounding this ‘thing’. I’m always game for this kind of gimmick. The chicken itself was nice, but it overwhelmed everything else. Yes, there was cheese. Yes, there was sauce. Finally, yes, there was bacon, but I didn’t really notice. All this comes to is a gimmick, pure and simple. For the rest of that day, I was monitored closely by doctors, as I was fearing a heart attack.
