Dunn’s Famous had become a part of Montreal culture. I can’t even begin to count the number of times I’ve been near the Metcalfe location. However, this time, I found myself at the Decarie location right off the expressway. Even though this restaurant offers burgers, I for some reason didn’t go for it this time. I saw something else and I wanted it.

Steak

Sometimes I make mistakes, and this is one of those times. I ordered a steak and the server misheard how much I wanted it cooked. Me, being the stubborn person I am, just ate it. I’m not going to go into details about what was my mistake because I think I need to save a little face. However, despite that the steak wasn’t that bad. It was the mashed potatoes that were awful that I wouldn’t even dare finish it.

Smoke Meat Platter

This was not my dish but I did get a chance to try some of it.  This restaurant, in my opinion, makes really decent smoked meat.  It was only over a year later when I really realized that.  In fact, my visits to this restaurant have motivated me to go to the iconic Schwartz on the Main.

A kind of dimly lit diner style restaurant here. When I showed up around 4 in the afternoon, the place was nearly empty. Even with that server spent most of the time sitting around. Located in the heart of downtown Montreal, its not a hard location to get to, not to mention other locations located in various areas.

Country Burger

A decent burger with bacon. It held together quite fine with the coleslaw being a nice complement.
