If you spent any amount of time in the city of Montréal, you’ll notice that everyone is crazy about one thing and that’s beer. Well, it’s probably not just this city, as popular culture has beer coursing through its veins. Taking advantage of the popularity of this very attractive liquid and a prominent real estate vacancy, Toronto’s Bier Markt has settled into our city.

In 2009, I went on a search for great burgers in the city I love. Early on along the way, I obviously started with the places with the best reputations. Some of those places came up short, while others surpassed what my expectations were at the time. I’ve been meaning to get to some of those places again and I finally had the chance. After almost 5 years, I have returned to L’Anecdote.

It would be hard to describe the city of Montréal without mentioning N.D.G. We all know people who live there, work there, and ultimately, have fun there. In the middle of all that, there’s Monkland, a street where you can find all you need, especially restaurants. One of the premier places on the street is Monkland Taverne.

Every city has their fine dining options and the restaurants that pattern themselves after that formula. These days, you don’t have to put on a tie to eat at these places and that opens up a world of possibilities for people like me. The place that you definitely need to keep an eye on in the city of Ottawa is Absinthe Cafe.
The summer is half done and there’s only one month until the regular routine is back. July is always a month of decompression and mandatory sleeping for me. This year was no different. With all that time dedicated to doing nothing, there’s one thing that doesn’t really take a vacation and that’s making sure this blog pushes forward.

Every city has their top burger contender. That is true in a city that has been a big part of this search, Ottawa. The nation’s capital might not strike you as the type of city where you can find food, but if you’re willing to look, you’ll find something. Anyone who is looking for Ottawa’s best burger should try Chez Lucien before making any kind of judgement.

The sixth season of Mr. Lew’s Great Burger Search is now underway. With that being said, I always like to start with something unique and special. For me, I’ve never started in my hometown of Brossard and this was the perfect opportunity. On top of that, there is a burger in my own backyard that should pique the interest of anyone who hears about it and that can be found at Jack Saloon.

Over time, there’s always that one restaurant that you wonder about. It’s that one place that you visited a long time ago and you weren’t so sure what to think of it. Well, a whole bunch of people like that place and you just quite understand. I have that feeling when it comes to Elixor and I had the opportunity to give it a second chance.

After 10 months and 48 burgers, it is finally time to get to the final regular selection of the fifth season of this search. With a lot of things happening on the personal side of my life, I had to rush to finish this season of the search. This has given me the opportunity to try some of the places that I’ve been looking forward to. One of those places is Bar & Boeuf.
The month of June is now behind us and that means that half the year is in the books. With that, I’m getting even closer to unveiling the 250th burger in a search that has officially lasted 5 years.

Boulevard Saint-Laurent is probably one of the most iconic streets on the island of Montréal. While there is a lot going on, there are some stretches of The Main that has very little when it comes to eating. In the last little while, you have a place that is starting to change that assumption and it’s called Pub Sir Joseph.

Almost 5 years in, it’s getting tougher to find places that make it hard to ignore. This island that we all call home has a lot to offer and there are surely some places that fit that bill. When you make your way to the west end of Westmount, you’ll find a place that is known as Brasserie Central.

A rebel is a person who doesn’t follow the rules, mostly because they think that they know better. In the realm of food, a rebel is one that does things in a way that no one ever thinks of. In this city, there’s a place that uses that word of its name and they are known as Rebel Brasserie Urbaine.

Our whirlwind trip through Boston was winding down and we were making our way home. A lot of our students had to be home for Easter dinner and our options were limited. So, a stop in West Lebanon yielded a lot of fast food options, or so one would think. With a timer on this visit, this gave me the opportunity to visit Denny’s.

The second day of our Boston trip was nearing its end and we were headed to the heart of the city. A year ago, Boston suffered a tragic blow. The Boston Marathon was overshadowed by the most unfortunate of events. A year later, the people of Boston are strong and they are moving past the tragedies. One of the restaurants that joined that effort is Five Napkin Burger at the Prudential Center.
