With Easter weekend now behind us, we realize that every now and again, a break is needed. This long weekend brought something that I wasn’t really expecting, another burger in the search and one that would take place in my very own stomping grounds of Brossard. With this being the first burger in Brossard in almost a year, the candidate this time around was La Station des Sports.

My visit to Léo Pizza in Brossard marks another chapter from my childhood that I want to share with everyone. Léo’s, as we called them at home, and their pizza played a large role in my upbringing. In a relationship that spans almost 20 years, it is the establishment that introduced me to my all-time favorite ingredient in this whole, entire world.

One of the most important things for me in this Burger Search is trying to find places close to home. The South Shore of Montreal doesn’t quite have the quality, signature places that the island does. It might be the case when it comes to restaurants, but when it comes to shopping, that’s a whole other story. Quartier Dix30 opened back in 2006. Since then, it has grown exponentially and has become the face of Brossard. What’s the most important commercial sector of Brossard without the possibility of a burger? That’s what I wanted to find out.

I remember this particular week in the Summer of 2010 like it was yesterday. Heat wave. Those are the only two words that really describe what it was like. When it’s hot, no one wants to cook or even move. For that reason, we found ourselves in the air-conditioned confines of this restaurant. This was the third time I’ve ever been to Chenoy’s and I have yet to ever see it at it’s busiest. This restaurant also has the distinction of being one of two places that received two visits in the Great Burger Search. I was tempted to order a burger on this sorry day, but laziness won out and something else was taken instead.

Philly Cheesesteak
Tried: July 7, 2010
This dish contains steak, onions, and cheese.
Now, this is in no way a iconic Philly Cheesesteak. This will also never supersede one you could get in Philly, but it was hot, and I needed food. As for taste, I can’t complain. The first thing I did was pour the sauce all over the sub, which wasn’t a bad idea. Despite the decent taste, I would probably rather go for a steak submarine at one of those cheap steamy places.

Another breakfast place that recently opened near my stomping grounds, I was looking forward to trying the burger selection. The wait staff at this restaurant were all very keen on their customers, which was a good thing. Where I was sitting, I got a good look at the kitchen area where the “manager” was working. The manager was quite unique personality, though he was focusing on his “friends” more.

Burger w/Bacon and Mozzarella
This burger contains lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mozzarella, and bacon.

Being my second breakfast restaurant burger in three days, my expectations were once again low, with the exception of burger. As I keep reminding myself, breakfast places have no excuse when it comes to bacon. The unique shape of the bun was interesting to look at. The taste, at first, was decent and made good use of the ingredients. I’m still on the fence when it comes to mozzarella cheese on burgers. The disappointment came at the end stages of the burger. The combination of the tomato and the final bites of burger turned this meal into a cold one. The cold caused the flavor to be zapped completely from the burger. It was okay while it lasted.

This was my second visit ever to this location. Service was decent with nothing much to complain about. But if you order a burger, expect a wait. The place was not packed either time, so a table should not be a long wait.

Oscar Burger

This burger has all of my needed ingredients in my burger search. Though I question the way it was put together. All you note in the next picture, the bottom bun is on top of the non-meat part, which I find weird. This being my second burger experience here, I’ll say that taste was never lacking as the burger held up through the entire meal.
