Visit: July 15, 2011
I first visited this location a year ago during my first trip to Ottawa. When I approached the place, I noticed the long line. For the three people working there, I felt that they weren’t being used to their full capacity. You had one person working hard, while the other two wasted a lot of time trying to figure out things. When you’re rushed, it leads to catastrophe and shoddy product.
Triple Chocolate Blizzard
Tried: July 15, 2011
This blizzard contains truffles, chocolate chunks, and fudge made with vanilla soft serve.
When I originally heard about the triple chocolate concoction, I was curious. I wasn’t sure of it’s availability in Quebec, so I was glad to see it here in Ottawa. I got to watch this being made twice in a row, with mine being the second one to come out. What worried me was that mine wasn’t put upside down like the first one. They do that to prove the blizzard aspect of their creation. I should’ve known then what trouble I was getting my self into. Even the air conditioning could not prevent the melting of the chocolate marvel.
My plan was to find a place to sit and to take down this goliath. As all plans go, they are meant to be changed. I noticed that it started leaking. I took out my emergency napkins and start to cap the leak. It’s all over the place, all over the cup, and starting to reach the mall floor. The spoon didn’t help, since the cup was over capacity. Every time you pull the spoon, the chocolate went overboard. What should’ve been a religious chocolate experience was ruined by too much chocolate and I have the battle scars to prove it.
I can’t go on without mentioning the taste of this creation. It was good, but a little too runny for me. If this was more of a blizzard, it would’ve been perfect. Good idea, poor execution.
