Voted the restaurant with the best burger in Montreal by the Gazette and in business for over 52 years, Mr. Steer has a lot of expectations to live up to. I found service to be quite acceptable. I also found it strange that the green salad with carrots was ready the second I sat down. You have no choice in that matter, folks.
Bacon and Cheese w/Onion Rings Steerburger
The burger contains lettuce, tomatoes, onions, onion rings, cheese, and bacon. The first thing someone notices about any Steerburger is the unusual size of the patty. I heard it described at a pool ball before, but this was so much smaller, so I would say golf ball, without the divots, would be more accurate. You should also be clear not to order this well done, or you’ll be feasting on cement. Despite the size, the meat was quite good.
Size aside, the sheer amount of things put into this burger make this a logistical nightmare. Though I was able to get my usual burger grip in place, I found myself pulling out ingredient after ingredient to make things work out better. Despite the structure, the taste is good, though not overly heavenly. This is supposed to be the best burger this side of heaven, but that shares the same side as hell too. Good burger, worth at least one try to call yourself a true Montrealer.
