Sitting directly across the street from Montreal’s iconic Schwartz’s, The Main is overshadowed by the worshiping of Montreal’s so-called smoked meat king. For the 30 plus minutes I spent at The Main, I was the only customer. Then again, I like lunch earlier than some.
The service was above average and I felt welcomed the second I set foot into the restaurant. Though I was eavesdropping on a school uniform conversation, I still felt pretty good about the atmosphere. Seating is not difficult and the booths are somewhat cozy.
This is a burger containing your normal burger fare like tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, cheese and mushrooms. The unique feature of this burger, and the reason I came to The Main, was for the smoked meat inclusion. I’ll say that the mixture of ingredients meshed well together. I never had to fight the burger. The smoked meat was tasty and didn’t take away from the burger at all. The bun, on the other hand, was a little compromised by all the loads of stuff going on. The fries were decent and nothing to complain about.
