GBS Year in Review 2011: Best Pictures | Mr. Lew's Great Burger Search

Now, I’ll have to admit, I’m not the best photographer, nor will I ever be. With that being said, there are at least some pictures that I am extremely proud of. There are other pictures that are just notorious for their uniqueness. 2011 was also the year when I upgraded my camera. I don’t think I’ll ever see the day where I’m going to walk around with a large, bulky camera. So, I’ll stick with my underwhelming digital camera. When it can take pictures like this, there’s no need to go better than that.

Honorable Mentions:

1. Sign @ Montreal Poutine

2. Chocolate Therapy @ Ben & Jerry’s

3.  Sign @ Dairy Queen

4.  Bacon Nutella Kono @ Kono Pizza

5.  Ice Cream @ Le Bilboquet

THE LIST

1.  Burger @ Chez Victor

I’m going to start off this list with the picture that became my profile picture for various things.  Of the 125 burgers I’ve had thus far, it has got to be the prettiest one.  The burger is quite aesthetically pleasing.  I’m also quite surprised that the picture turned out this nice because of my aging camera’s noticeable defect.  For a final coup de gras, I made this my computer’s desktop image.  Up to that point, that honor was only reserved for non-burger pictures that I took.  As I’m looking at it right now, I feel like taking the train to Quebec City to have another go at that burger.  It looks so nice.

2.  Bacon Worshipping on Mr. Lew’s Birthday

I wasn’t going to put this picture in the list, but after taking a second look at it, I couldn’t resist.  Where else does someone go to celebrate a birthday when you love bacon so much?  I defy you to find me a picture with more awesomeness than this.  I’d say more about this picture, but I’ll just leave the two of you alone to gasp at its total beauty.

3.  Seinfeld Caricature @ java u

In September, I went on a lobster roll hunt.  Little did I know that I was going to find something even better.  I make it no secret, I’m a huge fan of everything related to Seinfeld and Larry David.  This completely made my day.  I’m still in awe at the amount of talent it took to sketch these two famous television characters out.  This might not be a food related picture, but it’s one that made me all warm and fuzzy inside.

4.  French Fries @ Moishes

I’ve dramatically cut back on French Fries in past years and I can’t tell you how much I try to avoid them when they’re by themselves.  My visit this past October to a Montreal institution was tremendous in every respect.  From the beginning until the end, each aspect was top notch.  It was when I was reviewing my pictures of that night, when I came across the picture of French Fries.  The challenge that day was also in the darkness of the room.  It forced me to use my flash, something that I try to avoid.  What turned up was the greatest picture of French Fries I ever seen or took.

5.  Shrimp @ Le Jardin de Panos

My recent visit to Le Jardin de Panos was another example of how everything clicked.  Near the end of the evening, I decided to take a picture of a piece of shrimp.  I will always claim that shrimp is Asian bacon.  So, I always go crazy for properly done shrimp.  These shrimp were bigger than I was used to.  I decided to take a picture of just one of them, despite the fact that my dining companions mocked me a bit for doing so.  When I went back to look at the picture, I was amazed at how it came out.  It’s like you could just reach into your computer monitor and take a bite of shrimp.  It’s that awesome.

FINAL WORD:

Now that you seen the “best” pictures I took in 2011, I just want to take this time to promote 2 things.  The first is the Mr. Lew GBS Lite Tumblr page where I only post pictures (with links to the reviews of course).  The second is my Foodspotting page, where all my pictures look a million times better than they do anywhere else you look at them.  I don’t know why that is.  Anyways, those are my 2 pet projects and I hope you follow them as well.  It’s where my pictures shine best.

Lastly, I would like to end this post by sharing a picture I took in early 2011.  Enjoy!
